Vaddhadi Season 2 Review: A Crime Thriller That Falters

Vaddhadi Season 2, the follow-up to the popular Tamil crime thriller series Vaddhadi, is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video from August 7, 2026. The second season introduces a new cast and follows a fresh investigation while retaining the crime-thriller atmosphere of the original series. Sasikumar plays Musa Raza, a sincere Sub-Inspector working at the Padambathur Police Station in Tamil Nadu.

The story begins when a skeleton is discovered during the initial excavation for a Central Government highway project. The unexpected discovery turns into a serious criminal case, and SP Rathika Nair, played by Anagha, entrusts the investigation to Musa. As Musa and his team dig deeper, they uncover several disturbing details surrounding the unidentified remains.

The investigation also brings Madakathan Mani, a young man known for participating in Jallikattu, into the centre of the case. The mystery revolves around the identity of the skeleton, Mani’s connection to the incident and the person responsible for the crime.

Context & Performances

The series gets off to a reasonably engaging start. The main plot is introduced within the early minutes, and several episode endings are designed to maintain curiosity. Some twists and investigative sequences work well, particularly during the middle portions of the season.

Sasikumar is effective as the honest and serious police officer. Anagha also delivers a solid performance, while Yashwanth and Revathi Sharma create good chemistry as a couple. Aparna Das and the supporting cast perform adequately in their respective roles.

However, the biggest issue is the pacing. The eight-episode season spends too much time building situations and extending the investigation. The slow narration eventually makes the series feel heavier than necessary. While some investigative portions remain interesting, the later revelations fail to match the seriousness established earlier.

Impact & What's Next

The final two episodes significantly weaken the overall impression. Some of the earlier investigative developments are reduced to a relatively simple explanation, which may not satisfy viewers expecting a stronger payoff. The series also introduces a few additional elements that do not blend smoothly with the central investigation.

Technically, the production values are decent. Simon K. King’s music and Saravanan Ramasamy’s cinematography support the atmosphere, while the Telugu dubbing is satisfactory. Some VFX work looks weak, and the editing could have been tighter by trimming unnecessary songs, romantic portions and repetitive scenes.

Overall, Vaddhadi Season 2 has a promising setup and capable performances but fails to sustain its initial intrigue. The prolonged narration, underwhelming twists and routine conclusion make it a disappointing crime thriller.
