Yash's character is shown as a powerful and unpredictable figure who takes on the city's top criminals, while also becoming interested in Kiara Advani's character, a woman associated with a circus company.

The trailer later reveals another major element of the story: Yash appears in a second role with shorter hair and a beard. The two characters appear to be on opposing sides, setting up a violent confrontation. Toxic has reached its final promotional stage after multiple release-date changes. The film was initially scheduled for March 19, 2026, but was postponed because of what the makers described as escalating military tensions and conflict in West Asia. It was subsequently moved from June 4 to August 26 as the team worked on aligning global distributors.

The August 26 release will mark Yash's return to cinemas after KGF: Chapter 2 in 2022. The actor has another major project arriving later in 2026, with Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana scheduled for November. Yash plays Ravana in the epic, alongside Ranbir Kapoor as Rama and Sai Pallavi as Sita.
