Core News and Key Facts

Ranabali is now moving from visual curiosity to its musical campaign, with the makers preparing to release the film’s first single on September 21. Titled ‘Yendayya Saami Itta Gaastandi Vennela’, the song will arrive in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi, giving the period drama a five-language promotional push ahead of its theatrical release.

The film brings Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna together for the third time after Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade. Rahul Sankrityan is directing the project, which is set against South India under British rule between 1854 and 1878, with Rayalaseema forming a major part of its fictional historical world.

Context and Official Statements

Ajay–Atul have composed the first single, while Ramajogayya Sastry has written the Telugu lyrics. Ajay Gogavale and Shweta Mohan have lent their voices to the song. The makers announced the single with a promotional message built around the film’s earlier glimpse, suggesting that the music campaign will now begin in earnest.

Ranabali is being produced jointly by Mythri Movie Makers and T-Series. The story draws from the period of colonial rule, including the Great Madras Famine and local resistance, while presenting a fictional narrative rather than a direct historical retelling. The film has completed shooting and is scheduled to release worldwide on October 16.

The first single therefore arrives less than a month before the theatrical launch, placing music at the centre of the next promotional phase.

Krihaa Analysis

The important part of this single is not simply that Vijay and Rashmika are returning together. The film has already used its visual world to create curiosity; the song now has to establish whether that world can also work emotionally and musically.

For a period film set in Rayalaseema during colonial rule, music has a bigger job than supplying a catchy track for social media. It can introduce the cultural texture, emotional mood and regional identity of the story without revealing major plot points. That makes the first single an early test of how accessible Rahul Sankrityan’s period setting will feel to a mainstream audience.

There is also a strategic advantage in releasing the song in five languages. Vijay and Rashmika bring an established South Indian audience, while the multilingual music rollout gives the production houses a chance to position Ranabali beyond a single-language market. But the bigger challenge will be converting that familiarity into interest in a period story that is less immediately recognisable than their earlier collaborations.

If the song succeeds in connecting the period atmosphere with contemporary listening habits, it can become more than a promotional track. It could be the first piece of Ranabali’s world that audiences carry with them before entering the theatre.
