The next way to talk to Meta’s AI may not require reaching for a smartphone at all. At Meta Connect 2026, the company showcased Muse Charm, a compact standalone device designed specifically for interacting with its Muse artificial intelligence agent.

The device resembles a small keychain or Tamagotchi-style gadget and is designed to stay within easy reach. A fingerprint sensor placed on the right corner lets users initiate an interaction with Muse without opening an application or using their phone. The device also has a front-facing camera and a small display that shows an animated avatar representing the AI.

Meta describes Muse Charm as a pocket-sized device built around real-time voice interaction. However, the company has not yet finalised all of the hardware components, meaning the version demonstrated at Connect should not necessarily be treated as the final retail product.

Context and Official Statements

Muse Charm is an extension of Meta’s recently introduced Muse AI platform. Muse is currently available in the US through dedicated applications for iOS, macOS and Android, as well as through WhatsApp.

The broader idea behind Muse is more ambitious than a conventional chatbot. Meta says the agent can operate inside a dedicated Muse Secure VM and perform tasks such as sending emails, booking tickets and completing forms. It can also organise files, locate documents and summarise information from services including Messages, Calendar and Notes.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg demonstrated the Charm during Connect 2026 and indicated that the company is targeting a holiday launch later this year, potentially around December. Pricing, final specifications and availability markets have not yet been disclosed.

If Meta can combine voice, visual input and memory without making users repeatedly configure the device, Muse Charm could become a test case for whether AI agents can move beyond software and become everyday consumer hardware. For now, though, the missing price and final specifications make its practical value difficult to judge.
