Apple officially confirms that the M6 uses a 12-core CPU consisting of two Super cores, four performance cores and six efficiency cores. It also has a 12-core GPU with Neural Accelerators and a Dual 16-core Neural Engine.


The benchmark is particularly relevant for developers, creators and users who run several demanding applications simultaneously. Multi-core performance matters for workloads such as code compilation, rendering, file indexing and other sustained tasks.

Context and Official Statements

Apple introduced the M6 Mac mini in August 2026 as its first 2nm Mac chip. The company says the new CPU has two more cores than the previous Mac mini generation and can deliver up to 1.2x faster multithreaded performance. Apple also highlights up to 4x faster AI performance and 2x faster graphics compared with the M4 Mac mini in selected workloads.


There is an important correction to the commonly repeated M5 comparison: Apple’s current Mac mini lineup moves from the M4 generation to M6 for the standard model, while M5 Pro is offered as the higher-performance option. Apple lists the M6 Mac mini from ₹99,900 in India and the M5 Pro model from ₹2,09,900.


The reported M6 benchmark also sits close to the performance Apple has been promising, but Geekbench results can vary depending on software version, thermal conditions and configuration.

For Indian buyers, the standard M6 model is therefore the more relevant comparison for everyday development, productivity and moderate creative workloads, while the much more expensive M5 Pro is aimed at heavier professional use.

At ₹99,900, the M6 Mac mini also occupies an interesting position. It is not a budget PC, especially because users still need a monitor and peripherals, but its compact size and macOS ecosystem make it attractive to developers and creators who want desktop performance without a large tower.

The benchmark is still an early data point, not a reason by itself to upgrade. For an M4 Mac mini owner, the decision should depend on workload. For an older Intel or M1 system, however, the combination of CPU improvements, faster graphics and substantially stronger on-device AI capability represents a much more meaningful generational jump.
