More than 100 workers of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) were detained in Ranchi on August 11 during a protest march to the Jharkhand Assembly. The procession began near the Old Vidhan Sabha and was heading towards the New Vidhan Sabha when police intervened, according to a senior officer.

The march was organised in response to police action against students during an earlier protest over alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations. Clashes reportedly broke out after protesters objected to a bus carrying detained workers being moved from the area.
