BJP MLAs entered the well of the Jharkhand Assembly and raised slogans against the JMM-led government over the police action, forcing Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahato to adjourn proceedings twice. The BJP also observed a statewide bandh, while the ruling JMM described the shutdown as “sheer desperation.”

Opposition leaders have voiced support for the protesting students. Rahul Gandhi said violence against peacefully protesting students should be condemned, while Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal called for the government to resolve the students’ demands immediately.
