Hyderabad Murder: Man Kills Friend’s Father Over Debt Dispute

A financial dispute that had already separated a family from its daily life allegedly ended with a deadly attack on a father in Hyderabad. Chilkalguda police arrested 36-year-old Md Nizamuddin alias Nizam for allegedly murdering Immadi Srinivas on Tuesday evening on Mylareddy Road.

Police said Srinivas left his house at around 6 pm to purchase liquor. About an hour later, at approximately 7.10 pm, Nizam allegedly confronted and attacked him with a knife, causing a serious abdominal injury. Srinivas was first taken to RTC Hospital and subsequently shifted to Gandhi Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

The case, according to police, was not rooted in a sudden dispute between the two men. Investigators say the alleged motive developed from Nizam’s financial dealings with Srinivas’s son, Suman.

Police said Nizam and Suman were friends and had business dealings and financial transactions. Suman allegedly suffered substantial losses through share-market trading and left home in November 2023. Police said he has not returned since.

According to the investigation, Nizam had invested money through Suman but was unable to recover it or obtain a satisfactory response from Suman or his family. Police said this gradually turned into a grievance against the family.

Nizam had also approached a civil court over the financial dispute, police said. Investigators allege that frustration over the pace of the legal proceedings eventually contributed to his decision to target Suman’s father. The accused has been arrested and further investigation is continuing.
